Is tile appropriate for a kitchen?

Yes, tile is actually recommended for a kitchen. Its resistance to heat and moisture, durability, and ease of maintenance make it perfect for the kitchen.

Can tile raise the value of my home?

Yes. The National Association of Home Builders has found that the quality and style of the kitchen significantly impacts the value of a home. With little effort tile greatly enhances the appearance and practicality of the kitchen.

Can tile make a small room look larger?

Yes, larger tiles give a cleaner look and can actually make a small area look larger. Depending on the room's size, a 12 inch or 13 inch tile will create the illusion of a larger room.

Can tile be used on counter tops?

Tile is guaranteed not to scorch, burn, or melt if a hot skillet or pan accidentally sits on its surface. This makes tile a great alternative for counter tops.

Will tile fade over time if exposed to direct sunlight?

No. A tile's color and glaze are fired on at temperatures up to 2300 deg. F. This allows tile to be installed in sun rooms, outdoors, or any other sunny places without concern about fading.

What determines the grout color?

You want to use a complementary grout color to create a more uniform, blended look. Ultimately, an individual's taste and style will determine the grout color selected.

How do I care for my tile?

All that is necessary is to sweep up any dirt followed by damp mopping or sponging with a mild cleaner or warm water.

Can I ever change my grout color?

Yes. You can change any grout color with a grout stain.

What are the benefits of hardwood flooring?

Where can I install pre-finished hardwood?

In any room above finished grade with some preparation.

Where can I install laminates?

On any solid surface with some preparation.

Is pre-finished hardwood as durable as sand & seal hardwood?

Yes, the finish is more durable on pre-finished, because there are more coats of finish and it is applied in a controlled environment.

How does moisture affect my hardwood flooring?

Excessive moisture can lead to numerous changes to your floor, such as cupping, buckling or cracking. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you do not use water to clean your floors.

Can we install hardwood flooring in the basement?

No. It is highly recommended that you do not install hardwood flooring below grade. However, we recommend installing laminate flooring, engineered hardwood floors or tile in these situations.

Do I need a moisture barrier if it is above grade?

Yes. We recommend using a vapor barrier of 15-pound felt paper. This vapor barrier should be laid between the hardwood flooring and the wood sub-floor to prevent any moisture from getting to the floor.

What is the best way to clean my hardwood floors?

The best way to maintain your floor is to sweep and/or dust mop the floors regularly. Use a spray cleaner designed for pre-finished wood floors. (We provide a starter cleaning kit with all installations!)Â
